Christine Harris is an award-winning artist whose work explores societal-cultural issues including the ways religion and mythology combine to affect women. Her intuitive artistic process leads to work that is both deeply personal and universal, often delving into the collective unconscious.
Christine graduated from Virginia Wesleyan College in 1992, earning a dual degree in Fine Art and Psychology and then attended Eastern Virginia Medical School, where she earned an M.S. in Art Therapy. She has been teaching art to children for over ten years and was Education Director at Myhelan Cultural Arts Center in Long Valley New Jersey. As an art therapist, Christine has lead workshops for several organizations including Creative Heartwork, an organization that provides healing arts programs for children who have experienced loss and other painful challenges. Prior to returning to Virginia, she completed a commission for the Women's Cancer Center at Morristown Hospital, where she hopes her work will provide a moment of connection and strength.
Christine lives in Virginia with her husband, the artist and instructional designer, Ben Harris, and their three cats: Mango, Little Kitty, and Feather.
